Population

 

      The barangay is politically divided into four puroks with a total population of 956 individuals. The barangay has 227 households with an average of 4 people per household. Purok I is centrally located in the barangay with 348 individuals,  Purok II situated at the east of Purok I with 381 individuals, Purok III that is west of Purok I with 184 individuals, and Purok IV located at the north of Purok I with 43 individuals

Housing

 

            Most houses are built from light materials such as woods, lumber and nipa. Only few houses are made of concrete materials. Fruit trees surround the houses and some gardens are planted with vegetables and various seedlings. Majority of the houses are distant from each other but there are also parts of the barangay, specifically in purok 1, where the houses are only few meters away from their neighbors.

Religion

 

Majority of the residents in the barangay are affliated with the Roman Catholic Church that comprises 93% of the population. Other religious affiliations include the Assembly of God, Alliance Church, Filipinista, Jehovah’s Witness, Church of God Faith of Abraham, Philippine Benevolent Association, Seventh Day Adventist, United Pentecostal Church, Baptist Church, Evangelical Church, Piniling Nasod and Atheist.

 

Communication

 

The local residents have various sources of information and communication such as radio, television and cellular phones depending on their socio-economic level of the family. In cases of information dissemination of the barangay programs and services, it is broadcasted mainly through house-to-house visits care of the barangay officials.

 

Transportation

 

The roads in the municipality of Piñan are developed leading to the municipality of Polanco and Dipolog City, while the roads leading to the barangay are underdeveloped partly due to the Local Government Unit’s (LGU) underinvestment on infrastructure.

 

            Motorcycles or locally known as habal-habal are the main mode of transportation. Some of the local residents have their own vehicles. Public utility jeepneys and buses are also common modes of transportation when travelling through the national highway.

 

Recreation

 

Watching television, singing in the karaoke and gossiping are considered to be the barangay’s most common recreational activities. The community enjoys playing amateur basketball and is considered to be the most played sport amongst the children, teens and adults. The barangay celebrates their annual fiesta on May 3.
