4TH YEAR EXPOSURE
JANUARY - MARCH, 2019
ZumValentine's Day
February 14, 2019, as the world celebrates the feast of St. Valentine, the group decided to offer a sweet treat to the barangay by introducing a friendly Zumba Competition among the Zumba goers of the community. As part of the health promotion among hypertensive and the general populace of the barangay on health lifestyle, the dance contest was introduced. This aims to promote healthy lifestyle, promote camaraderie and recreation to the community. it was participated by 6 teams composed of 4- 5 members each age10-50 years old.

a month – long event to promote healthy lifestyle among the residents of the barangay

BP Station and Distribution of BP Kits
There were 9 identified BP Rangers last November 2018. They were trained last November to December and was included in every assembly in the barangay. The BP Rangers have agreed to have their home as BP Stations for those who are in need of BP Check or for those who wanted to have their BPs checked regularly. BP kits, Logbooks and BP Station signage were distributed last January 20, 2019

"Nakainom ka na ba?"
A Wellness Poster
The group comes up with the idea of pinning up BP REMINDER mini posters in the respective homes of the identified hypertensive patients in Barangay Bacuyong with the attempt of raising awareness about the consequences of missing or not taking their antihypertensive medications at all. This activity also aims to increase the compliance of taking antihypertensive medications addressing Morisky scale and Pill count measurements.
There were 105 hypertensive individuals received the wellness poster

"KaluSHOWgan"
A month long celebration of nutrition among the members of the community. LAst February 18-22, a week-long celebration of nutrition was condected at Bacuyong Elementary School. It was participated by kindergarten and grade 3-6. Video presentation on Importance of proper nutrition was given entitled Susan at Pepe and Gelay Ayaw sa Gulay. A Poster making contest participated by grades 3-6 and quiz bee that was participated by grades 506 were conducted.

"KaluSHOWgan: Nutri Cooking Show"
A month long celebration of nutrition among the members of the community. Last February 20, 2019, in coordination with Rubia Child Development Center of Barangay Bacuyong a seminar and lecture on proper food handling was conducted and lecture on importance of Iodized salt was given by the BNS Ms. Hermisa Montiel. A cooking contest was also conducted. The cooking contest was participated by 3 teams of primary caregivers with 4 members each. The group prepared an affordable, available and palatable vegetable mix recipes. Two recipes were given by the group organizer which was adopted from Dr. Sescon'c research which were Aquarian Cabbage and Tortang Talong Espesyal. The participating team also made their vegetable mix version.

"Meet Your Garden Season 2-4"
Meet Your Garden is a communal garden in collaboration with the 4Ps member. It is at its season 4 of its garden and harvest. the group has harvested string beans, okra, chinese kangkong and pechay. Some of the vegetables were used in feeding and some were sold in the market. Seeds were acquired from Department of Agriculture.

Brush Brush Brush, 3x a Day
The month of February is Worlds Oral Health month. In celebration of the Oral's Health Month the group decided to teach proper tooth brushing among kindergarten students of Bacuyong Elementary School. 10 students were present during the lecture last Feb 26, 2019.

TB Patrol: TB Awareness Program
TB Patrol is a campaign created by the group to help spread awareness regarding the TB disease, its transmission, sign and symptoms, prevention and treatment. Last February 18-22 a week-long celebration of TB awareness was conducted at the elementary school. Activities done were: (1) Health teachings among grades 5 and 6; (2) Quiz Bee; (3) Poster Making Contest.

Construction of TB Station and Posting of IEC
​
TB Patrol is a campaign created by the group to help spread awareness regarding the TB disease, its transmission, sign and symptoms, prevention and treatment. The group employed different active and passive strategies to increase the detection rate and cure rate of TB. Aside from house-to-house survey, the group lobbied the building of TB station to MHO of Pinan, ZDN. With the help of the MHO, the group started construction of the TB Station last Feb 2019. The building will be turned-over to the barangay this March 2019.

The group also posted IEC materials in different purok. The IEC is about the Misconception and Facts regarding TB disease, prevention and treatment.

BHW Training on Sputum Collection and Smearing
​
After the construction of TB Station, the group also collaborated with the MHO of Pinan to conduct a training for smearing in the barangay. the MHO of Pinan, coordinated with the MHO of Polanco headed by DR. Julianna Uy to train 2 of the BHWs of the barangay. A 3-day training was conducted last March 4-6 at Polanco RHU. Two BHWs namely Marivic Muit and Riza Palcotan were trained to man the TB Station and trained to do sputum smearing. Training was based from the NTP manual and wasgiven by a liccensed med tech and trained smearer.

SODIS iz it!
Solar Water Disinfection is one of the water purification methods being taught to the community. The SODIS iz it program was taught to the grade 5 and 6 students of theBacuyong Elementary School last February 20, 2019.

Lecture on Chlorination and Flocculation with Distribution of Hyposol
February 8, 2019, the group invited a speaker fromProvincial Health Office of Zamboanga del Norte in Dipolog City. Sir Randy led the lecture on chlorination and flocculation. The group also distributed hyposol among the attendees of the lecture.

Agua Cera: Distribution of Ceramic Water Filter
January 20, 2019, the group have received the 200 pieces ceramic water filter from the Department of Science and Technology. It is one of the proposed water purification methods in the community aside from boiling, hyposol, SODIS, and Chlorination. Last January 27, 2019, 158 ceramic water filter was distributed among the member in community.

Posting of Posters
Last February 5, 2019, the group posted the results of water analysis conducted among the 4 major water sources in the barangay. This is to inform the barangay and the community people about the potability of the water source. To date, households near the major sources are not drinking from it.
​

Chesmis:
Community Health Education para sa mga Misis
The group initiated Chesmis among primary caretakers of the community. Aside from primary caretakers, women of reproductive age were also invited in the health education. There were various health educations done. Lectures on Importance of Immunization, Measles tansmission, Breastfeeding and Proper Nutrition wer given to the attendees.
