Tracked and Identified individuals with presumptive TB, TB exposure

TB Patrol: A TB Awareness Campaign

The TB Patrol Awareness Campaign was held at the Bacuyong Elementary School with grades 5 and 6 as their participants. Doc Genisa and Riza imparted knowledge on how to acquire TB, prevention and its management. The campaign took part at the AVR of Bacuyong Elementary School. the pupils actively participated in the activities after the lecture given. a pretest and posttest were also given to evaluate their knowledge on TB.

The bar graph shows the TB cases detected which also include the cured cases from the year 2016 -2018.

TB Patrol: TB Awareness Program

TB Patrol is a campaign created by the group to help spread awareness regarding the TB disease, its transmission, sign and symptoms, prevention and treatment. Last February 18-22 a week-long celebration of TB awareness was conducted at the elementary school. Activities done were: (1) Health teachings among grades 5 and 6; (2) Quiz Bee; (3) Poster Making Contest.

Construction of TB Station and Posting of IEC

TB Patrol is a campaign created by the group to help spread awareness regarding the TB disease, its transmission, sign and symptoms, prevention and treatment. The group employed different active and passive strategies to increase the detection rate and cure rate of TB. Aside from house-to-house survey, the group lobbied the building of TB station to MHO of Pinan, ZDN. With the help of the MHO, the group started construction of the TB Station last Feb 2019. The building will be turned-over to the barangay this March 2019.

The group also posted IEC materials in different purok. The IEC is about the Misconception and Facts regarding TB disease, prevention and treatment.

BHW Training on Smearing

After the construction of TB Station, the group also collaborated with the MHO of Pinan to conduct a training for smearing in the barangay. the MHO of Pinan, coordinated with the MHO of Polanco headed by DR. Julianna Uy to train 2 of the BHWs of the barangay. A 3-day training was conducted last March 4-6 at Polanco RHU. Two BHWs namely Marivic Muit and Riza Palcotan were trained to man the TB Station and trained to do sputum smearing.
