Low Number of Households Practicing Water Purification Method

According to Kofi Annan, United Nation’s former Secretary General, “Access to safe water is a fundamental human need and therefore, a basic human right. Contaminated water jeopardizes both the physical and social health of all people.

Water must be accessible and safe. Water supply from doubtful sources such as open dug wells, unimproved springs, wells that need priming and the like shall not be allowed for drinking water unless treated through proper container disinfection. It can be a cause of serious illnesses such as diarrheal diseases, which kill over 2 million people every year (the vast majority children, mostly in developing countries like the Philippines). Contaminated water, whether drunk or used to cook food, harms people’s health. Thus, every community must exert its effort to convert to approve type of water supply facility.
