Poor TB case Finding
THE PROBLEM
​
Tuberculosis is still one of the deadliest curable diseases in the Philippines. This airborne disease has plagued humanity for thousands of years. Now, Tuberculosis has nearly been streaked away from countries with high-income economies. But in places where poverty continues, tuberculosis (known as TB) also continues to attack. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Tuberculosis is still one of the world's top health challenges with 9 million new tuberculosis cases and the deaths of nearly 1.5 million people each year.

During our April 2016 survey in Barangay Bacuyong, the team identified two individuals clinically diagnosed with tuberculosis. In contrast to the records gathered from the Rural Health Center which is zero case. The identified individuals are currently undergoing there treatment regimen.

All cases of TB were detected and recorded.

THE OBJECTIVE
To increase the cure rate of tuberculosis in Barangay Bacuyong from 0% to 90% by year 2019

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Tracking of person(s) with TB exposure, presumptive TB, those undergoing treatment, treated patient(s), relapse patient(s) through house-to-house survey

Referral to the RHU of identified presumptive TB individuals for sputum collection and exam.

Monitoring of the identified TB patient

Conduct trainer’s training for the BHWs, members of the barangay council regarding and chosen residents of the barangay

Collaboration with the RHU with regards to the availability of sputum collection bottles and referral system

Provide assistance for dispensing the TB drugs for the patients

Formulate a checklist based from NTCP-MOP edition 5
