Barangay General Assembly
One of the most awaited activities of the barangay during our stay in Bacuyong is the Barangay General assembly. The second barangay general assembly for the year 2015 was held on October 19, 2015 in the afternoon at the basketball court of the barangay. The first one took place in March of the same year. The barangay general assembly is being held twice every year to inform the residents of Barangay Bacuyong regarding the plans and projects made for the Barangay. The barangay general assembly, also called the State of the Barangay Address was led by the Barangay Captain, Hon Ronald B. Dancalan Sr. He enumerated to his constituents the progress of his projects as of the year 2015. The Barangay Kagawads also gave their updates regarding their designated committees. Of the seven kagawads, each of them spearholds a Committee on Education, Committee on Infrastructure, Committee on Appropriation, Committee on Rules and Regulation, Committee on Social Services, Committee on Agriculture, and Committee on Peace and Order. They also gave updates regarding their assigned puroks.
We felt honoured to be part of the program. We took the opportunity to formally introduce ourselves to the community people. We explained to them who we are and why we are in the community. And to make the assembly more fun, our group prepared a mini zumba dance number for all of them. All of the barangay officials danced with us. The people also stood from their seats to dance.
Seeing their friendly smiles and receiving their warm welcomes and greetings, we felt like we were already part of the community. It made us feel that this journey is going to be a great one. That was just the start of our life-changing experience.
