PeaNUTRISYON: A supplemental feeding to Malnourished Children

The group initiated a feeding with a peanut-based product to 7 identified malnourished children of ages 6 to 71 months old. This product is made up of powdered peanut, malunggay leaves, fortified milk, sugar and vegetable oil. The Peanutrisyon, as it is called, is prepared for 30 minutes which includes roasting of peanut then powderized using a food processor and is mixed with powdered malunggay, vegetable oil, milk and sugar. The content is later heated in a pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Let it cool and is ready to serve.

It aimed to increase a child's weight by increasing its protein intake in their body. This will give them a healthier weight gain hence treating acute malnutrition. This innovation was adapted from an NGO in Africa and now being used by public health sectors to treat acute malnutrition among children who belong to poor families
